Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
With the shot clock ticking down, player #9 heaved the ball to #35, who swished it into the basket for a 3-pointer. Hours of practice had built the trust that each man would be in position for the play. Do God’s children “practice” trusting in Him? King Solomon gives the directive, Trust in the LORD …(Proverbs 3:5a). Not in a teammate, a spouse, a friend, an employer — but in the Lord. How much trust? A little bit? Enough to get me through the mess? No, trust … with all your heart. All! But what else? Surely there’s something I can do. Yes, get the facts, make evaluations; assess the situation, all the while asking for God’s guidance. Trust His promise, “… I know the plans I have for you … plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). What more could we ask than to be blessed with a hope and a future from the One Who loves us best?
- Lord, we seek a special measure of your love and care for Tim & Shirley Crosslen, as his father John was called into eternity. We also include Gary & Sue Haydock as Sue’s mother Geraldine Anderson was called home to heaven. Direct them to your promises of eternal life and reassure them through the Savior’s resurrection.
- We rejoice with Gary & Cheryl Suckow, celebrating their 48th Wedding Anniversary. Truly this demonstrates a life of commitment to you and to each other. Creator, Savior and Sanctifier, bless them with your presence and your power that they might continue to share in your love.
- Lord, we join George & Deanna Edwards in thanksgiving as they celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary. You have secured them in your grace and blessed them with faithful, active children. We now entreat you to be with them, enhancing their love for each other.
- We ask for your blessing on our many new members, received publicly this Sunday.
- Thank you for the baptism of Wyatt Greggory Schipley. Through this gift of water and the word, you have received him into your family of faith. Guard him through life into eternal life.
- As he was rapidly transported to the hospital with breathing issues due to Congestive Heart Failure, we pray for Dave Spietz’s father, Gerhardt. May he be secure in your loving arms, dear Father in heaven.
- Lord, we give you thanks for your wisdom and guidance in providing us with a middle grades teacher for this coming school year, Mrs. Emily Rodrigue (Rŏd’ rĭg). Her husband, Kenneth, is currently vicaring at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Princeton, WI. We are excited to welcome Mrs. Rodrigue later this summer and pray that you would be with them as they finish up his vicar year and soon transition to our ministry.
- Continued prayers for Tom Ade (now in a rehab unit in West Allis); Sharon Kirsch (awaiting word on surgery); Zac Lippert (continuing to make progress); Rebekah Sueflow.
- We pray for a safe move for Ben & Katie Raddatz, heading south soon to Albuquerque.
Student mission trips – “We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord.” Heavenly Father, we praise you that another generation is arising to share your plan of saving light with our spiritually dark world. Guard and keep these young people safe as they share their faith in Jesus on summer mission trips. Bless their gospel proclamation according to your saving will. May their words and actions bring glory to your saving name. Amen.
