Who will receive eternal life? Jesus says:
I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned … (John 5:24a).
For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day (John 6:40).
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand (John 10:27-28).
Jesus came to earth to bring life and salvation to all people. Salvation is God’s free gift to all who believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again. No believer will be turned away.
Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life (Revelation 2:10).
- Dorothy Bladow’s brother, Gene, was called into eternity on Thursday this past week. She was close to him and it hits hard. We’ve prayed for him many times in our Bible classes and all the way back to God’s Ways class. Lord, be gentle with his family as they grieve.
- Lord, we join Steve & Andrea Semmann in thanksgiving as they celebrate their 27th wedding anniversary. You have secured them in your grace and blessed them with an active family. We now entreat you to be with them, enhancing their love for each other.
- As we continue to reflect on the devastation left by Hurricane Harvey, we ask that all affected by these storms receive the help they need. We seek that you extend your strength through your Word and your people to those whose lives have been so dramatically altered. We ask the Lord to also use this event to impress upon all of us the uncertainty and frailty of life and how quickly things can change so that we always “set our minds on things above, not earthly things” (Colossians 3:2)…
- The Wimmer family – as Sue has had a recent heart event. During this time of anxiety and the unknown, remind her and her family of your promises – promises of comfort, care, and attention to every detail of their lives. May they cling even more tightly to you as they go forward.
- We include Carol Campbell’s extended family which had a sudden, sad tragedy last week Thursday. Her youngest cousins 44 yr old daughter and her 18 yr old daughter were killed by a drunk driver while walking on a road. They are from DePere. Our prayers go out for this family during their time of grieving.
- Prayers of concern come before your throne of grace, O Lord, for Pastor Peter Kelm, son of Paul & Lynne, as his cancer continues to progress.
- We ask for your continued healing for Sharon Kirsch, who has had a slow road coming back after cancer surgery.
- For Ruth Goeden who took a fall, which thankfully resulted not in a break but a dislodged bone spur. We are grateful for this news as we seek your gracious repair in her recovery.
Ministerial Education – Lord Jesus, you have called us to send workers into the harvest field of the earth to make disciples of all nations, and we know you go with us. Thank you for blessing our ministerial education schools – two preparatory high schools, a college of ministry, and a seminary – so that our church body has the pastors, teachers, staff ministers, and missionaries needed to serve us and others. Amen.
