Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John. 14:6
The disciple and apostle Thomas had just asked Jesus, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” To this Jesus patiently answered with the familiar words of John 14:6.
The Way
Jesus teaches Thomas and all who hear His word of truth that He is the way. We must keep on trusting Jesus because it is through Him that we approach His Father in heaven. We want our children to know that there are many ways the world offers as false paths to a better place. There is only one way: Jesus!
The Truth
Jesus also says He is the truth. We can trust Jesus because all that is true and good is found in Him. He is literally the Word of God and He makes known His plan of salvation for us (John 1).
The Life
Finally, Jesus says He is the life. Jesus is the source of both our physical and our spiritual life. Because of the faith He works in our hearts through the Holy Spirit, everyone who believes has eternal life.
Just as Jesus taught Thomas and the disciples, so we also have the opportunity to teach our students each day about who Jesus is. As a result, our students learn who they are so that they can say with faith-filled hearts, “I am redeemed, I am forgiven, I am saved, and I am loved.” All of this they can learn and know because of the great “I AM”.
May God’s blessings be with us this school year as we learn to know the “I AM” of the Bible and grow in His grace, truth and love each day!
