When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? Psalm 56:3-4
Have you ever been so sick you thought you would die? A dire situation like this may cause us to do some serious soul-searching. Baptized children of God have the certainty of His acceptance and the forgiveness of our sins for Jesus’ sake. That does not mean that fears don’t come. They do and they will. But followers of Jesus combat fear with trust in their Savior. What can flesh — even flesh that is riddled with sickness — do to those who belong to Jesus? John Newton’s most famous hymn, “Amazing Grace,” has a stanza that addresses this. es, when this flesh and heart shall fail And mortal life shall cease, Amazing grace shall then prevail In heaven’s joy and peace.
Missions: Ask the Lord to fill the position of Mission Counselor which has been opened by the retirement of Pastor Ed Schuppe from Atlanta. We thank you for his 17 years of ministry at this level and look to you for the right person with the right skills to fill his considerable shoes.
- We rejoice that the Spirit has answered our prayer as Heidi Fischer has accepted the divine call for 1-2nd grade & Music in our LES. Heavenly Father, we ask you to richly bless her labors of love and grant her wisdom as she returns to the classroom and serves our children and families.
- We join Tim & Shirley Crosslen in prayer and concern for Tim, who will now be going through treatments for the return of cancer. Guide this process again, dear Lord, that he might regain his strength and enter remission once again according to your will.
- Sunday evening the Lord called Janet Stirmel home to heaven. This was a very brief time for her family, but she was rock solid in her expression of faith and a great role model for many. We seek the Lord’s special comfort for Dianne and her family as they celebrate a marvelous mom. In the morning of the new Easter let them rejoice together in the resurrection.
- We rejoice with Paul & Lynne Kelm at the birth of healthy grand-daughter named Sydney (by their daughter Laura). Keep mother and child safe as she is also washed by the sacrament of baptism.
- A first cousin of Lane Rehberg, a 25 year old named Blake, succumbed to his serious and life-threatening cancer. We are grateful with his family that it was a “quick mercy” yet now we pray that you might lead them through their grieving with faith and spiritual support.
- We also include Linda Hering’s mom, Gladys Hasbargen who broke both leg bones in a recent fall while visiting family in Ohio and will have to be in rehab for a couple months. Give her patience as she heals.
- Our prayers continue for Norm & Jane Shelvik and family as we approach the memorial, funeral service for Naomi, 24 yrs of age, who died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism.
- Along with Dan & Casey Gahan we add Dan’s father, Frank, to our list of concerned prayers. He will be undergoing another MRI to determine the causes of some form of brain disfunction and scary symptoms. We pray for clarity and a path of treatment.
- Again we ask for your continued care and healing for Ray Fuerstenberg who had a pacemaker installed and will return home again. Continue to guard and keep him, Lord.
- Our continuing prayers go up for Casey Gahan, now immobilized for months. Lord, give her answers to the multiple symptoms and, according to your will, grant healing.
