Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.  Proverbs 27:1

Today is ours, a gift from God. Whether the sun is shining brightly or heavy rains are pounding against the windows, God wants us to have this day. Whether we are happy or sad, healthy or disabled, God made each of us part of His plan for today.

This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24).

So why do we spend so much time thinking about tomorrow? The Psalmist instructs us to rejoice in this day — the day that is here and now. Boasting about tomorrow won’t get it done today! All too soon it will be tomorrow, and we may have passed up an opportunity that should have been taken today. With the power of God’s Holy Spirit behind us, let’s get busy and do what must be done today! Today is mine, God, a gift from You. How do You want me to use it?

  • We include Carol Campbell’s extended family which had a sudden, sad tragedy last week Thursday. Her youngest cousins 44 yr old daughter and her 18 yr old daughter were killed by a drunk driver while walking on a road. They are from DePere.  Our prayers go out for this family during their time of grieving.
  • Prayers of concern come before your throne of grace, O Lord, for Pastor Peter Kelm, son of Paul & Lynne, as his cancer continues to progress.
  • We ask for your continued healing for Sharon Kirsch, who has had a slow road coming back after cancer surgery.
  • For Ruth Goeden who took a fall, which thankfully resulted not in a break but a dislodged bone spur. We are grateful for this news as we seek your gracious repair in her recovery.
  • We join Len & Kathy Collyard and their children in thanking you for the blessings of marriage and the home. For 49 years together in marriage you have been their Savior, defender, and protector.  As they continue their journey through life together, comfort them with the knowledge that you are always beside them to sustain them.
  • Grant the surgeons a special measure of skill as Joey Ford, 12 years old, went through hip reconstruction surgery Friday, so that his pain is reduced and his movement increased. Keep his family stable as they attend to his needs.

Shepherd of the Valley, Westminster, Colo. – Lord Jesus, send your Holy Spirit to guide and bless Shepherd of the Valley in Westminster, Colo., as they start a second campus in the new, growing community of Candelas. Bless the congregation as they call a pastor to lead outreach efforts at the new site even as they go about evangelism in the community now. Lord, draw your people to you, and help them to grow as your disciples. Amen.

  ADDITIONAL PRAYERS:

Dorothy Bladow’s brother, Gene, was called into eternity on Thursday this past week.  She was close to him and it hits hard.  We’ve prayed for him many times in our Bible classes and all the way back to God’s Ways class.  Lord, be gentle with his family as they grieve.
