VERSE OF THE MONTH

This year’s Spiritual Growth Plan focuses on prayer. Ponder a verse and a comment on the blessing of prayer from your Spiritual Growth Committee: Ephesians 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”  Let us approach God with all our needs and concerns, big or small. And may we always pray for one another, perhaps especially this month pray for our new Confirmands, that they will remain steadfast in their Spirit-given faith.

SENIOR ADULT BIBLE STUDY – Gospel of John

In our study of John’s gospel, we are taking a journey through the life of Jesus. John offers perhaps the clearest reason why the Holy Spirit has given us these inspired writings: “…these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31).  We’ll apply our Savior’s teachings to our own lives throughout the study. The class is taught by Staff Minister Hering in the Church Office Classroom on Tuesdays at 10:30 am. This session runs April 30th – May 21st.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY – Romans

A Bible study on Tuesday evenings meets from 7:00 to 8:00pm in the church office classroom which is located in the white building.  Bring your point of view because you will be able to give it during our discussions.

From the Board of Stewardship

Serving others is a large part of our lives. Serve our  boss, serve our parents, serve our children, serve our spouse, serve our co-workers, serve a stranger in need, serve in a volunteer organization…May God help you to find joy in your service, especially as you focus on “…Jesus…who for the joy set before Him served us by enduring the cross…” (Hebrews 12:2). Prayer:  Lord, thank you for serving me through your perfect life and innocent death. Fill me with joy in serving others.  Amen. Continue reading “New this week – May 12, 2019”

From the Board of Stewardship

“When He rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, He found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow.  ‘Why are you sleeping?’ He asked them” (Luke 22:45-46).  Jesus was exhausted too.  After all, He was human.  He got hungry and tired, just as His disciples did.  We are prone to shake our heads at those lazy, disloyal disciples, but how often do we say we’re too tired to serve, too poor to give, too inadequate to help?  Like the disciples who were transformed on Pentecost, we have received the Holy Spirit Who equips, enables, and energizes us to be God’s stewards.  Prayer:  Our gracious Heavenly Father, You have given us the message and the power to proclaim the Gospel.  Give us joy and courage in our task.  Forgive us when we fail our responsibility.  Thank You for Your Son Who has lived the perfect life of stewardship for us.  Through Him we ask these things.  Amen.
