    THANK YOU!

    Dear Friends,

We thank you for the many expressions of love and encouragement that we received during Pastor Appreciation month. We are grateful to you and to the Lord for your prayers, your thoughtfulness and your Christian love.

It is a privilege from the Lord to share in his work and ministry together with you. We rejoice in the good news that God has made us his own. As Paul wrote to the Ephesians, we “keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better,” and that “the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”  (Ephesians 1)

    In Christ,

Pastor Wagner, Mr. Hering and the entire pastoral staff

“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you.” Isaiah 46:4a

The cake was smothered in candles to accurately commemorate Grandma’s milestone birthday. When the family gathered to sing, the youngest grandchild stared at the glowing cake and announced, “Wow! Grandma’s birthday is getting dangerous!” As the number of candles increases for each of us, it can be surprising. We question, “Who is that old person looking at me in the mirror?”

We see the proof of passing time in photo albums and clothing sizes; yet our minds want to argue the facts. The loving Father of all ages reassures us, Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you (Isaiah 46:4a NIV). Aging can bring concerns about good health and financial security. That is when we remember we have a merciful Redeemer who controls all of our days. God has promised to sustain us at all times and to carry us through all circumstances. He wants us to entrust our life to Him. We can live each day in joyful service and confident hope. (more…)

For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. 2 Corinthians 2:15

Let’s face it. When you’re done with a run you’re not only sweaty, but you also stink. The deodorant you put on three miles ago can only do so much to cover the full body odor that emanates from every pore.

You know what else stinks? Sin. And it also emanates from every pore of your body. Deodorant can’t cover it up, and it remains even after a shower. So how do you become the pleasing aroma Paul wrote about in Second Corinthians? Through the sweet smell of the Gospel. Only the Good News of Christ’s death and resurrection can cover the decaying smell of sin.

So be cleansed by the Gospel, and let it seep into every pore of your soul. And to your neighbors and friends you will be the aroma of Christ. (more…)

    From the Board of Stewardship

What comes to mind when you hear or see the word “stewardship?” Christian writer W.H. Greever offers the following thoughtful definition: “Christian stewardship is the practice of the Christian religion.  It is neither a department of life nor a sphere of activity.  It is the Christian conception of life as a whole, manifested in attitudes and actions.” The Apostle Paul offers the same encouragement and the motivation for our “practice of the Christian religion.”

“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” (Ephesians 5:1-2).

    REFORMATION 500!

“… for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning …” Isaiah 46: 9b-10a

She wasn’t warned the book’s plot was so intense! It was 1 a.m., and the uncertainty of the outcome was more than she could handle. She flipped to the last few pages to read the ending. Relieved, she could now fall asleep. Some might regard her action as unthinkable! Others consider it the only sane solution.

In many of life’s decisive moments, we want to know the end in advance. Is it the right time to apply for the promotion? Or buy a house? Which daycare is the best one? It would be so much easier if God would tell us the outcome before we make the decision. We don’t want a sign. We want a billboard! How differently would we live if we truly trusted that our gracious God knows the end from the beginning? He does! God promises, I declare “… the end from the beginning …” (Isaiah 46:10b).

God always keeps His word. We need only pray for His guidance, make the best decision we can, and surrender the outcome to Him. The blessed ending is assured. (more…)
