    VERSE OF THE MONTH

This year’s Spiritual Growth Plan focuses on prayer. Ponder a verse and a comment on the blessing of prayer from your Spiritual Growth Committee: 1Chronicles 16:11 “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” We need to look to the Lord always and see in the Word all he has done for us.

    August Sermon Series

Isn’t summertime, sunshine and the green growth in Wisconsin amazing?  From the rain and rays (actually, from the Creator) comes a growing plant. As summer progresses we witness the cycle of life, from start to finish, from little to big, from seed to fruit.  This same cycle occurs in the life of a believer, as faith is planted by the Gospel, it is watered and nurtured and then comes the abundant fruit.  God loves to gather his children together and raise a garden of good things.  Seeing this cycle reminds us that we can’t rush the process by which fruit appears in our lives.

    BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE

Our Savior Lutheran School will be offering before and after school care for the 2019/2020 school year.  This program will run from 6:00am to 8:15am and again from 3:15pm to 6:00pm.  Watch for cost details in the weeks to come.  Please contact the Board of Christian Education Chairman Nick Matter with any questions you may have.

    SCHOOL CLEANING – HELP NEEDED

There are many cleaning projects that need to get done this summer and there are many ways you can help.  Come to one of our “work days ” and enjoy fellowship while we clean. Work days are July 26th from 9:00am to noon and August 3rd from 9:00am to noon (any amount of time is appreciated).

GIFT CARD COLLECTION FOR THE FISCHER FAMILY

Mrs. Heidi Fischer has accepted the call to serve as our 1st & 2nd Grade teacher here at Our Savior.  As a welcome gift, it has been decided to collect Scrip gift cards for them.  We will be selling Scrip gift cards for the Fischer’s during the month of July after services in the narthex and present the gift cards to them when Mrs. Fischer is installed in August. Any cards you select to purchase for them is fine.  When ordering Scrip, just let us know which cards are for the Fischer family.

    Hot Lunch Help

The school is looking for people to help serve lunches to our students.  Volunteers serve from 11:30am until 1:00pm on Wednesdays.  Volunteers are also needed to shop and prep for the meals.  The Hot Lunch program is also looking for a coordinator to plan the meals, set up the menus, and coordinate the volunteer schedule.  This is a part time position that would be compensated.  If you are interested in helping in any way or have questions, please contact the school office at 262-377-7780 or online.  A Planning meeting will take place Wednesday, July 24th at 11:00am and at 7:00pm.

“Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”  John 2:10

In ancient times, table wine was usually prepared by adding water to thick, syrupy wine. The last wine served at Cana’s wedding feast, however, was made from water only! How could this be? The servants filled jars with water. However, when it was served, it was wine! The wedding celebration continued because Jesus had performed a miracle. (Read about this in John 2:1-11.)

When we stay close to Jesus and follow His direction, we have the privilege of seeing His power and His miracles close up. We can best serve God and each other when, like the wedding servants, we simply do what He asks of us. He turned water into wine, and He will supply our needs in His own unique way. God attends our wedding celebrations. He is with us long after the party ends. We have reasons to celebrate every day as we present our needs to Him, do as He directs, and then watch for the marvelous ways in which He uses His power to bless us.

Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary – Heavenly Father, you raise up leaders for your Church in every age. We praise you for leading Prof. Earle Treptow to accept the call to serve as our seminary’s next president. Fill him with joy as he leads the seminary faculty in carrying out its mission of preparing future pastors who are faithful to your Word. Give President Treptow a humble spirit that seeks to serve you and your kingdom and fill him with the wisdom needed to carry out his duties in a way that always glorifies our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
